Day: July 11, 2015
One night, I was attacked in my sleep. I could not move and I could not speak, but I had the ability to think. So I thought the name, Jesus , three times. It didn’t stop, but the moment I thought, The blood of Jesus , it immediately stopped. This is proof that God is not only able to do exceeding abundantly above what we ask, but also above what we think. Now I didn’t say that speaking or thinking the name of Jesus doesn’t work. The name of Jesus is just as powerful as the blood of Jesus, but God will teach you which weapon works for which situation.
The weapons of our warfare are mighty and powerful. They do work. What we have is different than the what the world has because what we have has power. Their weapons will form, but they will not prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Our weapons are able to pull down the enemy’s strongholds. It has power to break down every wall that the strong man uses to hide behind.
God told the Israelites that their enemies would be destroyed little by little. The Lord wasn’t delivering them just to deliver them, but He was teaching them how to wrestle against principalities, powers, the rulers of the darkness of this world and spiritual wickedness in high places. God didn’t say this was going to take place in a day, but in a year (Exodus 23:29). Why was it going to take so long?
Well, to expose, tear down and destroy the enemy’s “hiding” place was going to take time. It’s a process. When we read the Old Testament scriptures, we thought the nations were people, but what the Israelites were really up against were spirits. Every spirit isn’t the same so you can’t use the same strategy and plan for each one. For example, the Jebusites may have been greater in number than the Amorites. It probably took a day to drive out the Amorites, but it was going to take longer to drive out the Jebusites because they were many. Or maybe the Girgashites inhabited the land much longer than the Perizzites, which means the Girgashites were more stubborn and resistant so the weapons used to uproot the Perizzites wouldn’t work for the Girgashites, but it doesn’t matter how long they had been there. Their time in that land was about to expire. The land didn’t belong to them. It belonged to God and God was giving it to His people, but the Israelites couldn’t defeat what they didn’t know. If they had to learn their enemy, then we have to learn our enemy.
Don’t be discouraged in the process. There is nothing in you so deeply rooted that God can’t uproot. What you are up against may be great, but the One who came to set captives free is Greater. Your God whom you serve continually will deliver you (Daniel 6:16) and when He delivers you, you will be like them that dream (Psalm 126:1). You haven’t laughed in a long time, but the Lord is going to fill your mouth with laughter and your tongue with singing.
You have been bought with a price so you don’t belong to the enemy anymore. You belong to God. Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost. If someone comes along to corrupt, vandalize or destroy the temple of God, you can be sure that God will see to it that he meets destruction because the temple of God is sacred (1 Corinthians 3:17). God will punish those who spoils His house because He is not going to allow you, His temple, to be destroyed. Just as Jesus drove out the moneychangers because they made His Father’s house a den of thieves, He will drive out every thief in your house. Unclean spirits are thieves. They will steal your marriage, your children, your joy, your finances, and whatever else God says is yours.
Sometimes you ask yourself, Will I always be this way? Will I always be deceived in this area of my life? Will I ever overcome what defeats me? Yes, you will overcome by the blood of the lamb and by the word of your testimony. At one time, the works of the flesh manifested in you (Galatians 5:19-21), but now the works of God are going to manifest in you (John 9:3). God is going to deliver you so that He may be glorified and He will be glorified through Jesus Christ in ALL things.
The weapons God has given you for this spiritual battle does work. Let Him teach your hands to war and your fingers to fight. It is sad when the enemy is more convinced that our weapons work against him more than we are. He knows that what you have is able to defeat him, but when you don’t know what you have, you will give up. You will doubt God. Did God really say (Genesis 3:1)?
Learn who you are. Learn what you have. Learn your enemy. Ask for wisdom and ask for understanding and then apply it to your life. You will never know what works if you refuse to put to work what God has given you.
