Use the Word

John 1:1 – In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Two of the best things God gave us was the Living Word (Jesus) and His written word (holy scriptures).

God never gave us words just to be heard, but He gave us words that need to be spoken. When God created the heaven and the earth, they were created by words. Genesis 1:3 tells us that God said something and He also named what shouldn’t be to what it should be. Genesis 1:5 – And God called (named) the light Day, and the darkness He called Night.

We have learned how to fight in the natural with our mouths, fists and guns, but we haven’t learned how to fight in the spirit with the whole armour of God (Eph 6:13-18). We’d rather tell people where to go rather than to tell the spirits that are at work in them where to go. Jesus said, “The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63). We are fighting people that we can see, but the real fight is against what we can’t see – principalities, powers, the rulers of the darkness of this world and spiritual wickedness in high places. This is a spiritual battle and you must use spiritual weapons in order to win.

The devil and his demons are the real enemies – not people.

The Lord told Jeremiah, “I have put My words in your mouth” (Jeremiah 1:9) and the next verse tells us why: “See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant”. Anytime God gives you something, He expects you to use it for His purpose. Homicides, suicides and terrorism have been increasing. Some Christians were beheaded in February on the shore of Libya and recently some Christians were thrown overboard into the Mediterranean Sea. You may not see these acts performed in the United States, but that doesn’t mean that we are not under attack. Every day, God is protecting us and shielding us from the devil’s plan.

As you see what is going on in the world, what are you saying?

Jesus told His disciples plainly, “If the world hates you, know that it hated me before it hated you”. The devil hates Jesus and he hates us because we are conformed to the image of the One he hates (Romans 8:9). The thief comes to steal, but the moment he realizes that you are no longer ignorant to what he has been stealing in your life and in your family’s life, then his next goal is to kill and destroy. When his works are exposed, he now becomes afraid that you will expose what you know about him to others. He doesn’t want you to tell on him because he can operate better undetected. He likes to hide, but you don’t want to play hide-and-seek with him. The devil has secret missions, but God reveals his secrets by His Spirit. God is Light so He knows what lies in darkness. A lot of times we don’t know what to pray for, but the Holy Spirit knows what to pray for and He never prays amiss.

The same word that was powerful in Jesus’ mouth is the same word that is powerful in your mouth. God has given you words to end what the devil wants to begin. You have been given power over all the power of your enemy. You have been given the power to stop him, but you must stop him with the word that God has placed in your mouth. It can never come out of you if it’s not in you so feed yourself with the word daily.

Goliath never touched Saul or his army. He was big and he was tall and he could have probably taken all of them, but God wouldn’t allow him to touch them. Goliath wanted to touch them, but all he could do was threaten and intimidate them through words. I don’t know about you, but the devil has called me names, he has told me what I’ll never be and he has tried to scare me with his words. The moment he speaks, we ought to speak. Just as Goliath used words to send Saul and his army to flight, we are to use the word of God to send Satan and his army to flight. Whether you like it or not, they are going to come against you one way, but what’s inside of you is able to make them flee seven ways. What’s inside of you is greater than what is outside of you. What you can’t see is greater than what you can see. Use what God has given you to root out, to pull down, to destroy, to throw down, to build, and to plant.

You can talk about what the devil is doing and you can talk about what the President is not doing, but what you are doing? What are you saying? There are things going on in the world because WE have tolerated it, but God gave us the solution in 2 Chronicles 7:14.

If My people (Christians; the body of Christ; the saved; the redeemed) which are called by My name, shall humble themselves (do something), and pray (say something), and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways (you are saved, but you have a proud look, a tongue that lies, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to run to evil, you are a false witness and you sow discord among your brothers and sisters and God hates these things), THEN will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
