Look Ahead!

Hebrews 12:2 – Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

A few days ago, I drove approximately eight hours in a bad storm. This is what the storm taught me:

  1. Whether you prepare for it or not, a storm is coming.
  2. God is with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you.
  3. Don’t worry about time. You are not losing time. Sometimes you have to slow down or stop for a moment due to the storm, but as long as you don’t quit, you will reach your destination.
  4. I wanted to turn around and go back home, but then I was reminded that I had come too far to turn around. There will be times you will want to go back, but keep looking forward. Don’t go back to where you started. Finish what you started.
  5. Instead of thinking about how far you have to go, think about far you have come. It hasn’t been as long as you think.
  6. Change the way you think about the storm. The storm came to make you, not break you.
  7. You can’t stay HERE and still get THERE. You must move.
  8. Stop focusing on how bad the storm is and think about how happy you and many others will be once you reach your destination.
  9. Look beyond where you are. Don’t focus on what you feel or see right now. This is only temporary.
  10. There is joy before you. Look ahead!
